Top 10 Link Building Methods
Here are 10 great ways to build back links to your website, and most of them are free!
(1) Forum Posts: This is probably the easiest way to get lots of back links fast. Find forums that fit your subject, have high page ranks, and allow do-follow links in your signature, then post regularly to these forums.
(2) Directory Submissions: Directory submissions are almost not even worth doing if you ask me. The page that actually links to you will not usually have a very high page rank, and will contain no useful content other then links. However, I do recommend submitting your site to dmoz (the google directory), and the Yahoo! Directory.
(3) Social Bookmarking: This is the method of submitting your website to social bookmarking sites such as digg, del.icio.us, etc. this can be very effective if lots of users submit the same site. If you have a useful site that you believe people will want to bookmark, then consider placing an “add this” button on it.
(4) Guest Posts: Rather then starting your own blog, building it up, etc. many blogs that are already quite well established, will accept guest posts. This is when you write a post for a blog (with your link at the bottom) and send it in to the blog owner asking if he will publish it as a guest post.
(5) Link bait: Link bate is a piece of content so good that people will link to it from their own websites, blogs, articles, etc.
(6) Link Exchanges: A link exchange is an agreement between two sites to link to each other.
(7) Paid Links: This is usually a monthly / annual payment. The best link space to buy is at the bottom of forums (a link will appear on all categories, and threads), and on the sidebar or bottom of blogs (because there will be a link from each post page).
(8) Twitter: If you have been using twitter for a while, your page probably has a rather high page rank. The links from your tweets, and the link in the web section of your profile are no-follow. However, you can get a do-follow link by placing your link in the bio section of your profile in this format: “www.example.com” without the quotes.
(9) Blog Comments: Many blogs have a space to enter your website address when you comment on a post. When you submit your comment, it is displayed with a link to your site. Do-follow Diver is a free tool that can help you find these do-follow blogs. Please DO NOT COMMENT SPAM!
(10) Article Marketing: This is my favorite way of building back links because you can add your articles to very established websites for free, you can write about anything you want, and if you write unique content that people find useful, they will link to the article which links to you. My favorite website to submit to is
